Forward Deployed Engineer programme — upskilling disadvantaged Singaporeans for AI deployment roles
This week, Sam Heng (Director, Partnership) met with training partner Rossa to advance planning for the Forward Deployed Engineer programme — a new initiative to develop talent from disadvantaged and physically challenged communities for AI implementation roles in key Singapore industries.
Together with Rossa, we are designing a comprehensive curriculum that bridges the gap between foundational AI literacy and practical implementation. Participants will gain expertise in prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and deploying AI solutions to real-world business problems.
Deployment Strategy: Our graduates will be placed directly within organisations we serve — accounting firms, law firms, advertising agencies, and SMEs — where they will immediately contribute to workflow optimisation and productivity enhancement. This creates a sustainable talent pipeline: industries receive AI-literate talent trained to their specific needs, while disadvantaged Singaporeans gain meaningful career pathways in the digital economy.
The programme features inclusive design principles — accessible technology, hands-on workshops, and industry mentorship — ensuring participants can succeed regardless of physical ability or socioeconomic background. The first cohort is scheduled to launch Q4 2026.
